Workshops for Children
We have a range of workshops running throughout the morning (10:00-14:00) at Magdalen College School. A more detailed schedule of exactly what's on when will follow shortly so keep checking here, but see below for a taste...
All the workshops are free to take part in and no ticket is required.
Bell Ringing 10am-2pm
For one day only the Festival will be home to a portable belfry, complete with six bells hung for full circle ringing. The Charmborough Ring is a scaled-down version of the bells that hang in churches across the country. Come along and watch a bell-ringing demonstration or have a go yourself. No experience is necessary.
Discover the world of Matisse
2 x 1-hour workshops at 10:30am and 11:30am
Children will explore the use of positive and negative shapes and vibrancy of colours through Matisse's cut paper technique.
Pit Your Wits! 10am-12pm
Come and try your hand at a wide range of strategy games, both old and new, which are suitable for all ages. Revisit past pleasures or learn something new.
More hands-on art, music and science activities will be on offer for all the family to enjoy throughout the day. Keep checking the website for more details.
Art and Crafts 10am-2pm
There will be a variety of arts and crafts activities to take part in, ably assisted by teachers from the MCS Art Department.
While you're in the Rose Garden, walk through Birds of a Feather, a project about the shared experiences of human and animal migration, involving courage, possibility and the quest for freedom and survival.
