Magdalen College

William Waynflete, Bishop of Winchester and Lord Chancellor, founded Magdalen College in 1458. Its many famous fellows include English scholar and theologian C.S. Lewis and the historian A. J. Taylor. Renowned alumni include the 1995 Nobel Laureate in Literature, Seamus Heaney, and the writer and poet, Oscar Wilde.
